We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. for your photos i'd use a black background and less photos on a page
eventually, you can group them intro categories and just put some representative pictures on the homepage that liks to the other photos

Ich nehm eins
Bin auch grad dabei eine simple website aufzubauen. Gar nicht so einfach...
Zu "crowded" find ich sie nicht unbedingt. Notfalls könnte man 3x2 fotos anzeigen lassen um die Site noch etwas zu beruhigen.
Interessant ist auch wie die Website in sehr kleiner Auflösung aussieht. Viele nutzen heutzutage diese Mini Laptops (eeePC oder so was). Ein großteil der Websiten ist für so etwas nicht konzipiert, haben eine feste Breite und man kann sich dumm und dämlich scrollen.
Aber gut ... sowas ist finetuning.
